Hello and welcome to another new month here at Calico Craft Parts!
I am first off this month to share with you the first of three projects for this month of November. With thoughts turning to Christmas I decided to make a start on thinking about presents for close friends and family. There are so many Calico Craft Part kits that would make wonderful presents and I hope this one might inspire you!
I made four little books to fit the Storage Box, each one slightly shorter than the other so they sit nicely in the box covering Desserts, Chicken, Lamb and Beef and Veg recipes.
I painted all the insides of the box with a coat of gesso, then two coats of acrylic chalk paint.
I then stamped randomly using some relevant stamps.
Before I stuck the box together I traced around each piece on a sheet of 12 x 12 patterned cardstock. Amazingly this WHOLE project is made from one single piece - the sides of the box and the front covers of the little books.
The box was glued together and then the sides covered with the already cut out paper. It all fitted very well, just needing a little sanding around the edges in places.
I decorated the front of the box with this little knife and fork and used some of the mini MDF tags as well.
A very enjoyable project to make and which is now sitting in the kitchen waiting to be filled in!
As always thank you for joining me today and I'll be back later in the month with more projects.

That's such a clever idea, Jennie - and a brilliant use of the the storage box. Beautifully designed and made as always too.

DeleteI do love this idea Jennie, the way you decorated the box is beautiful, I love the fork on the front and the clips are a great finishing touch! Anne xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne - it is lovely to have a project that is useful too !
DeleteWell, Jennie, you might not be the world's most cordon bleu cook, but you are a wonderful creative crafter! This is a brilliant idea! I really love the clips and the little fork additions and this is a genius use of the storage and tags too! Sorry for the awful cliche, but it's really thinking outside the box! xx
