Steampunk World

 Hello!

The sky's the limit when it comes to your imagination, right?!

and especially the Steampunk genre is a fantasy world, anything is possible,

because it's a genre

 that's never existed before.

I created a canvas in mixed media style, it's always a pleasure to combine

several textures, color effects and materials.

Have you discovered the Steampunk Letters yet? They are extremely creative

and ideal for personalised gifts.

Coffee Hearts - Homedecor

 Hello!

I was inspired to create a home decor project as a

small Thank - you gift.

I glued two hearts offset on top of each other and used

colours and textures

to create a grunge project in steampunk style hanging wall decoration

suitable for friends who love coffee.

Altered Bottle - Witching Hour

Hello creative friends!

I was inspired to create again a bottle in altered Art.

Using the layer technique, I have put together a number of different pieces

to make an old raven witches' clock with a pendulum.

I love these old bottles in a dark romantic style,

you can just light them up

and they create a eerily beautiful atmosphere.

Maritime Tag with Kerstin

Welcome creative friends!

I was motivated to create a sea inspired tag with a touch of Steampunk.
Love underwater fantasies, one of my favourite themes in summer time.

Used one of the very versatile tags from Calico Craft Parts,
always a good stable base for mixed media projects.
You can experiment and create with water and other liquids
 without deforming the background,
I always appreciate that.

Giant cog - mini robot: by Louise Crosbie (Zuzu)

Hi there folks.

I’m sharing this assemblage that I learned in a class given by Nuneka Box. She used lots of resin pieces and metal embellishments but I decided to try my version using calico craft parts.

I do love Nuneka’s style and her classes are very inspiring whilst being great fun. This one was part of her patreon membership.

I have used a few bits of resin cast in Finnabair moulds but it’s probably 90%  calico craft parts.

Skull & Ghosts - Pirates curse by Kerstin

 Welcome everyone!

Have you seen the latest Hanging kits on Calico Craft Parts???

Awesome 🎃👀🎃, such a lot of creative possibilities!!

Over the next few weeks I will introduce you three different variants.

New Skull & Ghosts - MDF Halloween Hanger Kit reminded me of dementors (Harry Potter)

and so I created two different Halloween projects out of this one set.

A Halloween canvas with flying dementors, where I used the hanging ghosts from this kit

( coming soon) and a jewel for setting up. 😀

Do you fear death??? Who doesn't know this famous saying from the Pirates of the caribbean?!

That was my inspiration for this extraordinary home decor piece,

that looks very good in the wall unit or on the shelf,

with dim lighting it looks even more interesting.

Steampunked cigar box: by guest designer Lori Woods

Hello everyone! I'm very happy to be back for my second guest designer post and this time I've gone steampunk! Normally my steampunk project are covered in gorgeous rust and patinas but I wanted to really showoff these fantastic steampunk shapes so I went for a metallic colour palette instead.

I started with an old cigar box and used a stencil to create some texture. I added two of the Ornate Decorative hinges to the side to recreate a box effect and then covered everything in a mix of gold and bronze metallic paints.

I used the Steampunk Mechanical Clockworks motif and Steampunk Mechanical Clock shapes, along with Mini wood cogs to create a focal point, layering them together to give the piece dimension. I painted this with silver metallic paint and attached it to the box.

Although I loved the mix of metallic colours, everything was too bright and clean so I took some watered down black acrylic paint and used this to create shadows around the shapes and give the box a slightly dirty and worn look. I finished off with a word element from the Apothecary set and my steampunked cigar box was done!

I hope this gives you some inspiration- these steampunk pieces are fantastically detailed and could be used in so many ways on different projects.

I used:

Ornate scroll decorative hinges

Steampunk Mechanical Clockworks motif

Steampunk Mechanical Clock

Mini wood cogs

SciFi police box with a steampunk twist.

Hi everyone.

When Helen told me they were going to be adding a “Police Box” kit to the range I was super excited. I am a geek... there is no denying it.

I was very lucky to be sent an advanced one before the shop even had them online to buy and my steampunk pal (our extended household bubble person) and I wasted no time in constructing and decorating it.

It was so much in advance that there was no pdf with the construction guidelines which did leave us expecting some fun mishaps as there were a lot of parts.  But we still managed it simply by looking at the photo Steve sent of an example he had constructed to make sure the kit worked ok.

So in honour of a well known SciFi tv series and with a bit of a steampunk twist, here is the completed police box.

For my engine, I’ve used some resin mould pipes and a propeller, some calico craft parts gears/cogs, a kitchen shape cutter and a little bulb.
I’ve added a sort of fake rivet effect using little hardware screw heads from a mini sheet and as a little vintage Victorian detail,I used a couple of paper fasteners that look like old door pulls/handles.
Needless to say I predict ordering a second one 😄

Supply list.

A selection cogs (gears).

Atelier Mixty Motions by Kerstin

Welcome creative friends!

I was inspired to create a mini atelier in grunge style

with a touch of steampunk.

I used the lower part of a cardboard gift box and as background

old book paper with white crackle paste

and distress ink for stains and splashes.
