Mystic Witch Clock

 Hello!

Guess what! Halloween is just around the corner, which means it's the perfect time for dark fantasy. I've designed a clock that is simply indispensable for a witch. 😉

I used a coffin silhouette as base and created the clock case with four matching shapes.

A ghostly dementor was suitable for the clock pendulum, which I supplemented

with a severed pumpkin from the scary pumpkin border.

Altered Bottle - Witching Hour

Hello creative friends!

I was inspired to create again a bottle in altered Art.

Using the layer technique, I have put together a number of different pieces

to make an old raven witches' clock with a pendulum.

I love these old bottles in a dark romantic style,

you can just light them up

and they create a eerily beautiful atmosphere.

Giant cog - mini robot: by Louise Crosbie (Zuzu)

Hi there folks.

I’m sharing this assemblage that I learned in a class given by Nuneka Box. She used lots of resin pieces and metal embellishments but I decided to try my version using calico craft parts.

I do love Nuneka’s style and her classes are very inspiring whilst being great fun. This one was part of her patreon membership.

I have used a few bits of resin cast in Finnabair moulds but it’s probably 90%  calico craft parts.

Parts used:

Giant cog:

Sheet of MDF cogs: 3

Sheet of MDF cogs: 4

Edison bulbs and chains

Mechanical clockwork motif 24

Cogs and clock hands

Mechanical clockworks motif number 16

Mechanical clockworks motif number 27

Steampunked cigar box: by guest designer Lori Woods

Hello everyone! I'm very happy to be back for my second guest designer post and this time I've gone steampunk! Normally my steampunk project are covered in gorgeous rust and patinas but I wanted to really showoff these fantastic steampunk shapes so I went for a metallic colour palette instead.

I started with an old cigar box and used a stencil to create some texture. I added two of the Ornate Decorative hinges to the side to recreate a box effect and then covered everything in a mix of gold and bronze metallic paints.

I used the Steampunk Mechanical Clockworks motif and Steampunk Mechanical Clock shapes, along with Mini wood cogs to create a focal point, layering them together to give the piece dimension. I painted this with silver metallic paint and attached it to the box.

Although I loved the mix of metallic colours, everything was too bright and clean so I took some watered down black acrylic paint and used this to create shadows around the shapes and give the box a slightly dirty and worn look. I finished off with a word element from the Apothecary set and my steampunked cigar box was done!

I hope this gives you some inspiration- these steampunk pieces are fantastically detailed and could be used in so many ways on different projects.

# Coffeebreak by Kerstin

 Welcome creative friends!

Coffee is always a good idea, or?!

A good cup of coffee in the morning awakens your spirits and energy.

As I saw the little and big cups at Calico Craft Parts I thought,

yes, they are very suitable for a mixed media coffee project in grundge style.

Together with a clock face and some gear wheels I created a shadow frame

that you can use as a gift or for your own kitchen.

The best thing about coffee is the aroma and the scent,

so I also use some real coffee beans and coffee powder,

that makes the whole thing more lively.

Steampunk Multi Frame - Cogs

was completed with a single cog and two clock hands

which were embossed with black  powder

 Teacup & Saucer

was disassembled into two parts and the plate was glued on again as a saucer in 3d optics

here I glued a bigger and a smaller cup on top of each other,

stamped them after painting and added some aromatic coffee powder to it

 Swirl Flourish

I had to disassemble it too and used it as a cloud of scent wafting through the room

Steampunk & Sea by Kerstin

Welcome, creative friends!

I'm an enthusiastic Mixed Media designer and Steampunk & Sea is always a very fascinating theme for me.

Some days ago I got a wonderful gift from my friend Claudia 😍
thanks sooo much!!!

I'm totaly in love with this awesome Maxi Mould 'Seaworld' from Stamperia. I have already used various casts for some mixed media projects and was very thrilled to experiment and find out if you can combine this big seahorse (made with modeling clay) with some filigree MDF wood shapes from Calico Craft Parts.

I created a mixed media frame in Altered Art style. Before that it was just a simple plastic frame from a Euro shop.

Have you already seen these awesome letters in steampunk style in the Calico Craft Parts store???

You can choose various sizes for the letters and you can build your very own words as you can order each letter separately.

I used two different sizes of the

Dotted Peacock Weed - MDF Seaweed Wood Shape Style 3

together with some natural elements and a sea star (made with a mould as well).

The magnificent hair of my steampunk sea horse was made using the
Crab MDF Wood Shape - Style 3

Probably the hairdresser had just closed here too

but luckily some strong hair gel was still there ;-)

The dorsal fin was created from the

Spider Web Flourish MDF Wood Shape

I used some embossing powders and Metallic Wax for some shiny metallic effects

.... one of my favs from our latest ATC frames collection - the

Plain ATC Wood Blank with Cogs & Steampipe Frame

with a very special embossing powder 'Burnt Copper Leaves'

Two wood shapes used in layering technique:

Do you also love to combine different ideas and materials? Then maybe you would like to give this a try.

 Thanks for your visit!

Stay safe everyone and take care of yourselves and your loved ones…

Secrets by Lesley

Howdy everyone.

This week I've been playing around with a few of the new pieces that have arrived in the shop!

I started off with a plain MDF board which I covered with an old book page .

The three sticks are kebab sticks!

I layered the craft parts onto the sticks. And included a picture of a young boy behind the clock.

I use lots of different coloured embossing powders over the top. Love the effect it has given.

Thanks for reading

Time flies - Mixed Media Tag by Kerstin

Hello  creative friends!

I know,  I know,... Halloween is past already.... what a pity :-)

I love to think out of the box though,
so why shouldn't it be possible to use these hands from the Halloween craft parts section
for grungy projects of all kinds?!

When I saw one of the latest awesome MDF Add On Sheets
Zombie

 Arms and Boots

Zombie Arms and Boots - MDF Add On Sheet

I was instantly inspired to create a new mixed media tag in a grunge weathered wooden style.

The hands were just perfect for my theme! How often do we wish we could just stop the time
 in very special moments.

some close up's

 here
you can find a tip on
how to make those little candles

Tip

Create a simple roof and shelf

I used a fine saw and split the shape into two parts.
I did the same for the shelf on the bottom edge.

Rectangle Shape with Notched Corners - MDF Mixed Media Board 75 x 38 mm
Roof suitable for a classic tag 200 x 100 mm

Glue in place at an accurate angle with hot glue or wood glue

Rectangle Shape with Notched Corners - MDF Mixed Media Board 100 x 50 mm
for the shelf

For a better stability of the shelf, glue the second part right underneath

Calico Craft Parts used:
  Zombie  Arms and Boots

Roman Numeral Clock Face
Clock Hands - MDF Add On Sheet
Sandglass

I hope I could inspire you

to have your own out of the box ideas!

Thanks for your visit!

Happy crafting!
