Kitchen Wall Art - Hello Spring

 Hello!

I created a new wooden sign in country house style and wanted realize a  simple,

natural, vintage look, used-style. Love the lovely cockrell

that tells everyone that spring is here.

It is always a good idea to use your own words in different fonts

to make something personalised. I will be using this more often soon!

Spring greetings - Homedecor

 Hello everyone!

The last month of winter has begun, and the longing for spring is great.

Today, I present to you a new upcycling project.

I found it in an old scramble box; it was missing two rabbits, but I liked it very much.

So, I had the idea to make the whole thing prettier with a few Calico Craft shapes.

I used leftover wood-paper wallpaper to cover the rabbits, and aged the edges with walnut ink.

Then, I created a spring landscape using only a few pieces,

leaving the shapes in their original colours and highlighting them

with a small amount of white acrylic paint.

With a matching Easter egg from my stock I filled in the missing part.

Home Decor Altered Art - Springtime in Forest

 Hello everyone!

Today a new springtime inspiration.

Used a half metal egg as base, before it was a original box of chocolates.
that has been painted with light green chalk paint.
The background was completed with cutting dies (fern leaves).
A piece of floral foam was attached in the lower part of the egg,
shapes were inserted and on the front  glued on.
MDF shapes were primed with white gesso and
then painted with acrylic paints.
To compliment the natural look
I used dried branches with lichen.

Dark Forest - Homedecor by Kerstin

Welcome creative friends!

I found an old home decoration piece on flea market,
two mushrooms are made of felt and I liked them.

They inspired me to decorate them with some MDF shapes
 and make them unique.

Thought of a moonlight night in the dark forest
and you can see that I already started with Halloween crafts 😀.

Halloween Mobile - Witch with Attitude

 Hello creative friends!

Today a new Halloween inspiration.

I was inspired to create again something completely different with the MDF shapes

 from Calico Craft Parts.

The result is a hanging mobile, it can be attached to an old ossified branch together with bats and decorated with cobwebs. All parts are freely movable and are set into vibration with every airflow.

Tips & Tricks

base idea

in the upper part of the crow a hole was drilled for the suspension

then I used three birch signs in different sizes

with the help of a chain and some rings (from jewelry design) the three signs are connected

for this further holes were drilled into the signs with a hand drill, if this is too complicated for you, you can ask for pre-drilled holes when ordering, I am sure it can be made possible

 labels were printed out

for the painting I used chalky paints from DecoArt

the mat chalky surface in combination with weathered wood creates an old used look

Ocean Bliss - Home Decor by Kerstin

Hello, creative friends!

Today a new SEA inspired project - it's a centre piece in vintage shabby chic style.

Have you seen the versatile mixed media boards in the Calico Craft Parts shop?
In spring I had already created a project of a similar kind with one of these.

I love it to use  a crackle medium on the MDF shapes, here it is Weathered Wood from DecoArt.

The projects become a used old look, which is perfect for pieces that should spread a lovingly individual charm. Together with some Distress Spray Stains the background is quickly made - below the foaming sea and above the sky .

I had a ship in mind whose sails have already been worked by wind and weather. The hull was painted with brown metallic paint and the sails were first painted with a little texture paste, crackle medium, white acrylic paint and after drying highlighted with light golden metallic wax.

My project also needed an old compass that still points the way.
I broke the lid off the wood shape and  glued it back on at an acute angle with cold glue to create a dimensional effect.

A baroque shell element was the perfect addition for this project. I first primed it with crackle medium and then coated that with white acrylic paint.

The title word shapes were embossed with a very special embossing powder, matching the maritime theme.

Jagged Edge Birch Ply Wood Plaque

Galleon Boat MDF Wood Shape - Style 9

Art Deco & Nouveau Style Ornament Shapes - Style 7

  Pocket Compass MDF Wood Shape

Dolphin Duo MDF Wood Shape - Style 03

This new maritime project found its place on
a handmade fret saw shelf and now adorns my living room table.

I hope I could inspire you to try your very own versions and ideas !

Happy crafting!

Easter Wreath by Jannet

This is the time of year, that I start thinking about decorating our home for Easter/Spring. This year I thought I would make an Easter/Spring Wreath.

For my base I used a circle of thick card which I cut from packaging, with another circle cut in the middle to create an aperture. I  covered the base with moss, which can be purchased from floral and craft shops.

I selected beautiful spring daffodils, and a cute Easter bunny to paint and adorn the wreath. After I took this photo a hedgehog and squirrel came out of hibernation, and wanted to be painted too. So they could also jump onto the wreath.

I adhered all of the wooden pieces into the wreath adding a few dried sunflower petals around the Easter Bunny. I finished by punching a whole into the top of the wreath and threading yellow yarn through it to hang it up with.

To make the wreath I used the following Calico Craft Parts

Easter Card by Jannet

The first daffodils are coming up, so Spring must soon be here... we hope! I have been thinking about starting to make my Easter cards. The mini Caico Craft parts are so small and lightweight they go very nicely onto a card.

I decided to start by creating  a watercolor background.

After selecting my cross and animals, I painted them with acrylic paints.

During the summer I like to press lots of flowers from the garden. They are always lovely to use in various crafts. I looked through my box of dried flowers and selected some Forget-Me-Nots, gypsophila, and various green leaves. I shuffled all of the animals and flowers around on my background until they looked ok, and then of course I shuffled them all around again! Finally when I was happy  I adhered everything in place. I used flowersoft around the cross, and also to create the hill.

Thank you for visiting today, I hope you will enjoy making some Spring/Easter cards with these gorgeous mini animals.

Spring Altered Book by Jannet

I was recently looking through some old books in a charity store, when I I came across an old Enid Blyton book “ Brer Rabbit Again” I thought this would be perfect to use with the cute little Calico rabbits.

I thought it would be nice to create a little scene in the book. I began by turning over the first page, as I decided this would become a tree trunk later. I began by sketching out some hills, and tore the pages from the outside edge towards the spine to create the hills. After edging the hills with various shades of green ink, I adhered the torn pages together.

The empty hills needed some rabbits so I painted three different sizes of rabbits. I completed the bunnies by adding flowersoft to each tail, which, made them nice and fluffy. I glued the rabbits onto the hills, some tucked into the tops of the torn pages and some sitting in front. I also added a selection of dried flowers into the hills. A little twig became a branch on top of the page, and a little Bird happily sat amongst the leaves.

I returned to the first page, and I used a bark texture stamp all over it. When the ink was dry I rolled the page up, and adhered it to the left side of the scene.

There were lots of beautiful illustrations in the book so I lightly coloured them with coloured  pencils, and fussy cut them. One of the images from the book was of the rabbit swinging from a tree I glued him onto some card to add some strength to the fragile paper. After colouring and fussy cutting him I adhered him around the tree trunk so he appeared to be swinging over the scene.
The inside cover was looking a bit sorry for itself so I cheered it up with some of the coloured images and painted Calico Craft Parts mini hares, birds and leaves.

Thank you for visiting xx
