Frightful Night by the Sea - Kerstin

Hello creative friends!

I know Halloween is over, but it's November, an absolute scary month for me.
Hardly sun, grey, wet and gloomy, definitely the best time
to do something encouraging for yourself.

And what could be better than to get in touch with yourself while doing handicrafts?!

I was inspired to create a new eye catcher to decorate my home with
and I combined my two favs:

the themes SEA and HALLOWEEN.

Even more inspiring to me: I used an old drawer from a flea market.

Tips & Tricks

First, I put the little lighthouse together.
With the help of the illustrated instructions
on the according shop page this is quite easy,
only the upper part requires some tactfulness and patience.
I always work with wood glue and let it dry overnight.

Because I wanted to illuminate the lighthouse again,
I additionally sawed a door into it and removed a side wall of the lighthouse.

I love to use crackle Medium for an old weathered look.

With some chalky paints, Texture sand paste and diluted black acrylic paint
I created the back - and underground.

I hope you like this inspiration
and use the darker time of the year to do more things that make you happy!

Trusting in yourself is the beginning of

the process!

  1. Love love love your lit lighthouse, Kerstin! And I love how you have managed to capture the specific November mood you're talking about! And yet still there is beauty all around - but winter is close and decay has already started. It's a dark time of the year and it makes me melancholic too - but I kind of embrace this (when possible). It is also the time of the year when I have written my best poetry - and looking at your project I see a lot of poetry too! Love it, my friend! XXX

  2. I love those lighthouses - and lit up it's even more beautiful. Wonderful, detailed, atmospheric work as always. And yes, another believer in the benefits of melancholy darkness here!
