Hippo Campus by Lesley

The beautiful weather we're having at the moment has finally had some sort of effect on me........so this week, i've gone colourful!

I started off with a block of wood (pinched from the cellar at work) and added a touch of gesso to the base. Then i roughly brushed 3 different colours of paint over the top. Once dry, i added some washi tape to the top and bottom.

Using my fingers, i splodged on some glass beads texture gel. Kinda looks like the sea i think!

These little seahorses are so cool! I coated them with gesso, then applied a layer of crackle glaze, then rubbed antiquing cream into the cracks.

The little bubbles were made using old book paper, rusty wire and then filled in with a glaze.

I've been studying a lot of Latin words lately, so thought i'd look up what sea horse is in Latin.
Hippo Campus! Sounds so much better i think!
I used one of the jagged edge mini plaques and a bit of canvas to stamp the words onto.

And there you have it..........one Hippo Campus altered wooden block!

Thanks for reading.
