Hello crafty friends and Calico Craft Parts Lover.
Elly here and i'm your proud guest designer this month.
Mostly, when i'm creating with gears, my projects turn out brown / patina / rusty / steampunk - ish. Today i'm showing you, that gears and shabby chic go just as well together
Deer Heads are very popular for quite some time.
I'm so very fawned of you, my deer!
A perfect base for the mini deer head trophy is the MDF Fleur De Lis Display Kit. I just glued patterned paper to the inside.
The deer head ( download from the internet after browsing deer head template) was cut from copy paper (23 pieces) and glued together. The head is getting stabil with acrylic paint and i used the DecoArt Media Mister in Carbon Black to get the paint into all the gaps and grooves
Subsequently i've coated the deer head with DecoArt Media Liquid Glass and Copper Glitter
I mounted the deer head to painted (DecoArt Media Gesso White followed by Media Fluid Acrylics Titanium White) MDF Wood Cog
The Steampunk Border, the Steampunk Corners even the outside of the Fleur de Lis Diplay Kit had the same paint treatment. DecoArt Gesso White followed by Media Fluid Acrylics Titanium White.
I'm using wooden spools as connector. Most of the glue part is done with a hot - glue gun. The Steampunk Mechanical Cogs was adhered and painted afterwards
This beautiful Stag Deer Wood Shape also had the painted Gesso / Titanium White combo, but changed the colour after applying Liquid Glass on top. You can watch the same phenomenon happening on the Fleur De Lis Display below. I guess the original colour of the Craft Parts are coming thru the paint, but i really like this *vintage* effect. In order to balance the vintage colour, i've adhered several tiny metal gears in gold.
Thanks for your visit
