Rusty Old Things: By zuzu

Hi there.
I am sharing a project that uses the largest of the Drop Box kits, some of the Pipework bits and a few little cogs today.
Simple but effective I hope.

I put the backing paper on to the main back panel of the box before assembling. I made sure to sand it back at the edges so it would not interfere with building the box.
I didn't add the perspex and front frame at this stage. I painted the whole thing with a wash of Decoart paint in Raw Umber to make it look more like old dark wood, then set it aside.

I glued my bits of pipe (and the taps etc) on to the front frame panel and then painted it all in Raw Umber. when it was dry i gave it all a rusty look using more "raw Umber" some "Quinacridone Gold" and some "raw sienna" applied in layers with a stipple brush.
A touch of blue patina antiquing cream went on to the pipes as well as some copper metallic lustre before attaching it (along with the perspex) on to the drop box.

When the glue had set, I simply poured some of my old clock and watch parts in to it with some other old rusty things I have found on my travels.

Calico Craft Parts used:
Drop box (Large)
Pipework Maze
Mini Cogs.
